Gary's Lemon Bread
Gary's Lemon Bread
This recipe comes from my best friend Gary. He would make these and give them as gifts, what a wonderful gift they were.
There moist inside with just the right amount of tart lemon flair. They also have two toppings...
1 1/2 stick butter
2 cup sugar
1 cup milk
4 eggs
3 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped nuts (pecan or walnut)
2 large lemons
Cream together butter, and sugar, add eggs and milk, blend well.
Fold in nuts, add juice from lemons and grated rhine.
bake at 350 until done, about 50 mins.
Topping 1
2/3 cup sugar
juice of 2 lemons
Boil together, when bread is still warm, slit down the middle with a knife and pour glaze into center.
Topping 2
powder sugar
lemon juice
Boil together, drizzle on top, sprinkle
with chopped nuts.....
Makes 4 small or 2 large bread pans
